This is good news for my first day on the forum, and hope this trend continue. I moved from the Logitech Revue to the Sony NSZ-GS8 to encounter the same problem; no support for future versions of the OS, was like buying a dead product. So far so good, I got this G Box on December 2015 and already looks to have a better future than the two others "big companies" offerings. Looking forward to this Fridays update! Thanks Matricom for supporting your products how it should.

I would't count my winnings just yet. Even though they say "This means that regardless of which device you own, you will receive the same benefit of further firmware development as the Q² continues to receive updates", they ALSO say the original G-Box Q will only be supported for 1 more year, so I would assume from those two statements that the Q2 will receive updates but after 1 year the Q may NOT receive updates (after all, it's unsupported).

Is there any easy way to backup kodi settings before applying this 2.0 firmware update? When I purchase a Q, Kodi kept lagging when watching 1080P movies(disabling add-ons, upgrading/downgrading kodi dint work or cache fix). Only fix was to downgrade to 1.3. Since then it ran perfectly. I would like to test this new 2.0 firmware but would downgrade back if needed.

I use usb sdcard wizard.

I've used it a few times with fairly good results.

In fact, I keep a backup on the SD card just in case.
